Shop Rides at Revolution Bike Shop/HERevolution Multisport
Friday, November 18, 2011 at 12:14PM Saturday Group Rides
Relaxed road rides supported by Cycling Camps San Diego (CCSD). All rides will depart from and return to Revolution Bike Shop and HERevolution Multisport.
We have two regular routes and both are in the 40 mile range. Please see the course descriptions and links to maps in the section below, underneath the heading Saturday Morning Rides and Routes.
Are these rides for me?
These are not hammerfests, so if you are looking for a fast group ride, then you will probably find the pace to be a little too mellow. On the other hand, these rides are not for beginners, either. If you are fairly new to the sport, or have had a long layoff, I'd recommend having completed a few 30-40 mile rides, averaging at least 14 miles per hour prior to joining a Revolution ride. There are usually a couple of regroup spots positioned strategically along the route in an effort to keep everyone together, but some weeks we may break into faster/slower packs. We try to have someone at the back to help slower cyclists with ride support, but we recommend that newer/slower cyclists study the posted routes and cue sheets just to make sure that they can get back to the shop without the support of shop/sponsor personnel, should they get separated from the group.
Housekeeping items
The rides are free of charge, but we ask a some things in return:
1. Helmets must be worn
2. Obey all traffic rules
3. Please have at least one spare tube
4. Sign a waiver holding the ride sponsors harmless in the event of an accident or injury
5. Please make sure your bike is in good working order (if not, Revolution Bike Shop offers a basic tune-up for $60)
Here is a link to a PDF of the waiver. One waiver is sufficient for all rides. You can print and sign this waiver prior to the ride, or we will have copies available the day of the ride.
Please plan to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the posted roll out time to pump your tires, use the restroom, sign your waiver, etc. We will roll out promptly at 8:30. If you miss the start of the ride, route slips will be available at the shop.

Saturday Morning Rides and Routes
- Saturday, February 18, 2012. 8:30 AM roll out. Del Dios Loop. 42 miles with approximately 2K feet of climbing. This route starts out from the shop and heads into Fairbanks Ranch, into Rancho Santa Fe, up Del Dios Hwy. into Escondido, through Elfin Forest, into San Elijo Hills, and then works back to the Coast Hwy. via La Costa and back to the shop. This route is the more challenging of our two rides with the vast majority of the climbing bunched in the middle third of the ride. This is probably not the best ride to join if you are fairly new to the sport, or have had some time off of the bike, as there is no option to shorten the route. Cue sheet and route for Del Dios Loop (via Map My Ride)
- Saturday, February 25, 2012. 8:30 roll out. 40 miles. Carlsbad Loop. A few hills and rollers, but mostly flat. We start from the shop and head into Fairbanks Ranch, then into Rancho Santa Fe, west to Encinitas via El Camino Del Norte, north into Carlsbad via El Camino Real, back to the Coast Hwy. (around Carlsbad lagoon), and south on Coast Hwy. back to the shop. This ride can be shortened by cutting across to the coast from El Camino Real at several spots. This ride is the better option for slower/newer cyclists who might be worried about the climbing on the other route. Cue sheet and route for the Carlsbad loop ( PDF)
