Small parts are extra. Typically these would be pedal washers (to adjust stance width), shims (to adjust for leg length differences), wedges (to adjust for forefoot varus/valgus), and longer screws (to attach the shims or wedges). These items are only used on an as needed basis, and will typically cost between $5 - $30.
You may also need new components to get you properly or safely set up; these are usually the stem, saddle, seatpost and/or pedal extenders. The cost of these, or any other needed components, are not included in the price, but are available at Revolution Bike Shop.
The price of the Packages includes adjustments for 1 bike and 1 pair shoes/cleats. Additional shoe setup is $20 per pair (plus parts, if needed). If you want additional bikes set up, please call for a quote.
If you don't have clip in pedals, I'll deduct $50 from the bike fit.
Payments can be made by cash, check, or credit/debit card.
If you don't see a service that suits your needs, please give me a call and I can give you a customized quote (as a good rule of thumb you can figure on labor charges of $75 per hour).
Detailed breakdown of each package and the services included
A. Complete Bike Fit
This is the service for those who use a clip in pedal system and want a comprehensive bike fit that will include not only the typical position adjustments, but also adjustments to the foot/pedal interface and vertical laser alignment for injury prevention and increased pedaling efficiency.
Please be prepared to spend around 2-3 hours honing your position, recording your bike's setup, and making adjustments to your cleats/pedals.
To schedule a Complete Bike Fit, please call Eric directly at 858-414-7093.
Here's what's included:
- A telephone and/or email interview during which your health, cycling goals, fitness level, current gear, etc., will be discussed.
- Everything needed to perform the fit, including a stationary trainer.
- Your current component placement and bike will be carefully measured and recorded.
- You will be checked for leg length/arm length discrepancies, pelvic tilt, and pelvic rotation. Your feet will be evaluated and measured for forefoot varus/valgus (tilted forefoot).
- Flexibility evaluation.
- Cleats are adjusted, and, feet/knees/hips are aligned with a laser. Wedges and shims may also be installed and adjusted. I'll spend as much time as needed to get your shoes, feet, and pedals to feel just right.
- Your position will be evaluated and adjustments made. All changes are based on angles measured with a goniometer. Changes are never made based on static measurements or formulas.
- Saddle height, saddle-handlebar reach, saddle-handlebar drop, saddle fore/aft, and saddle tilt are fine-tuned, and final componenent placement is recorded.
- Handlebar tilt and brake lever placement are established and recorded.
- Referrals may be given to other medical professionals, including chiropractors, physical therapists, podiatrists, or medical doctors.
- Follow up visits, telephone and/or email consulations, as needed
An upcharge may apply if you have challenging situation that will require the fit session to be broken into two meetings. These could include: a current and/or chronic injury (one that is causing you to cut your rides short or miss them entirely); previous accidents that have limited your range of motion or flexibility; prior surgeries to back or limbs; or any other medical conditions that may require extra time to address.
B. Advanced Cleat/Pedal/Laser Alignment Service ($95)(Included with a Complete Bike Fit)
This service is for those who are happy with their overall fit, but would like to fine tune their foot/pedal interface on clip in pedal systems (i.e. Speedplay, Look, Time, Campy, or Shimano). Many cyclists complain of pain in the balls of their feet, suffer from arch or toe cramping, or experience uncomfortable pressure, also known as shoe "hot spots". Most of these problems can be greatly reduced, or completely eliminated, with proper cleat placement and vertical alignment of the feet, knees and hips.
Also included is indentification of leg length differences, and if needed, installation of corrective devices (i.e. shims).
Laser alignment would also be a good idea for those switching to new shoes and/or a new pedal system (price also includes set up of the shoes and/or pedals).
This is my most popular service with triathletes who have already been to another fitter for positioning/aero adjustments, but still feel like they need help with the foot/pedal interface.
The length of this appointment is contingent on the complexity of your situation. If you need pedal washers/spacers, shims, and wedges, this could take a few hours. That said, most appointments will take around an hour-and-a-half to two hours.
To schedule your Andvanced Cleat/Pedal Service, please call Eric at 858-414-7093.
Here's what's included:
- On bike evaluation to determine pelvic tilt, rotation, or functional leg length differences.
- The following measurements: upper and lower legs, hips, and stance width (Q factor).
- Complete foot evaluation to determine forefoot varus/valgus, and your natural position while clipped in.
- Cleat alignment and adjustments (fore/aft, side-to-side, and rotation).
- Laser alignment of hips, knees, and feet.
- If needed, installation and adjustment of pedal washers/spacers, shims, and/or wedges (these items are additional, see pricing at top of page).
